The common Sense Platform
Gun Control verses Public Safety
The constitution of the United States is very clear concerning
this issue. As such we support the original intent of the founders
of the United States Constitution. The founding fathers exercised
their right to bear arms when they took control of the government
and drove the British from our soil. With the revolutionary war
fresh in their minds they drafted the second amendment to guarantee
sound government through the hands, yes and guns, of its citizens.
The right to bear arms is the ultimate checks and balances preventing
the Government from overstepping its bounds. Additionally; every
law abiding citizen deserves the right to defend their life and
property from those that would harm them in any way. For those
who would abuse their 2nd amendment right through criminal activity,
they deserve to lose their right to own such weapons permanently.
Pro-Life Verses Pro-Choice
We desire to reduce the number of abortions by using common
sense tactics. Our first goal is to establish a legal definition
of when life begins. Through education, this definition can be
later modified to earlier dates thereby reducing the number of
abortions further.
Education should teach youth not to engage in fornication. To
this end, much can be gained by legally enforcing the “PG-13”
and “R” ratings on movies by making it a crime to
allow youth to attend these shows without a legal guardian present
to escort them through the door. Also, require producers of movies
to have available at least 50% of their new movies modified with
PG or lower ratings for family use; the family version can have
a small premium cost of which should not exceeding 15% of the
of original version. All movies must disclose in detail all reasons
for any rating exceeding G. These reasons must be made available
in detail on all packaging, movie posters, web sites, and movie
trailers.
While we do not favor censorship, advertisers of the day are
much too liberal in the use of soft porn in the advertisements
that are seen by our children in magazine and television adds.
The sexual revolution has long since died, and for good reason,
we need to return to a time where family programming is available
during prime time on public television so that our children do
not have to grow up prematurely.
No Tolerance Policies
We have no tolerance for“no Tolerance Policies”.
They must all be eliminated in all forms, from every organization
and in every law.
Prohibition of Drugs
The current drug enforcement system is currently not working.
We can’t even keep the drugs out of prison let alone off
our streets. We need to reexamine this issue and come up with
a better solution. Some current illegal drugs may be useful for
pain reduction in the terminally ill. In addition, it may be beneficial
to make these drugs available to research scientists. Confiscation
of property due to the suspicion alone of drug trafficking should
be eliminated. Having a large sum of cash on hand does not warrant
having it seized by authorities until after being convicted of
crimes through a criminal trial.
Environmental Policies
Initially, environmental law was highly beneficial. Today it
is riddled in fraud. These policies must be reexamined using common
sense and proper science.
Tort Reform
There are far too many litigations going on. Acts of stupidity
should not be rewarded. Lawyers who bring obviously frivolous
litigation to court should be disbarred with fines being levied
on both lawyer and client.
Hate Crime Law
These laws lead to unequal protection under the law and should
be eliminated. There should be no difference in penalty between
someone who commits a crime out of hate and someone who commits
a crime for the hell of it.
Pornography
Pornography is not free speech. It should be illegal to send
unsolicited pornographic advertisements via email over the Internet.
Extra penalties should be added if a picture comes up when the
unwanted email is opened. All pornographic web sites must abstain
from the use of unrelated keywords that cause Internet search
engines to mistakenly find their web page for a completely unrelated
search request. In general, pornography is harmful to society
and should be discouraged. All pornographic web sites must use
a key word that can be easily identified by a web browser or search
engine thereby limiting accidental exposure to minors. Pictures
must not be available until after a legitimate user has logged
in to the web site. Banner advertisements must not contain pornographic
images and must not be misleading. While pornography is bad, being
subjected to it through no initiation on your part should be illegal.
Governmental waste
Similar to the private sector, deadbeat government employees
should be able to be fired without an excess amount of red tape.
We support presidential line item veto to reduce pork barrel spending.
We also support a balanced budget using real accounting methods,
not the current fiction used by the government. The purpose of
the government is to protect its citizens from threats both foreign
and domestic, and provide basic infrastructure. Anything beyond
this is excessive causing over taxation of the public at large.
Taxation
We support either a consumption based tax or a flat tax: the
preference being a consumption based tax. Penalizing the rich
for their success is unfair. Income tax 1099 reporting should
be eliminated if the amount is under $100. The government should
not be armed with the knowledge of how much money a particular
person has. Progressive taxation creates a bar separating middle-income
people from becoming rich. Much of the tax code is unfair and
needs to be revised. Exorcising a stock option should not represent
a taxable event. Instead of IRAs, why not make all interest and
capitol gains tax-free? This will encourage economic growth.
Definition of Adult
We like to see equalization here. Adults can be drafted, vote,
drink, or do any legal activity. Either raise the definition of
Adult to 21 or reduce the drinking age to 18. Our definition of
“Adult” is someone who has a high school degree or
equivalent and has reached the age of 18 years of age. People
who do not or cannot get a high school degree or its equivalent
are not responsible enough to handle the responsibilities of being
an adult and therefore must not be allowed the privileges of being
an adult such as drinking, smoking, or voting! This creates 3
classifications of people: minors (17 and younger), non-minors
(18 and older), and adults (those responsible to make adult decisions).
Over regulation
We like to take a common sense approach to what is regulated.
Requiring emissions controls at a bakery because yeast releases
excessive amounts of hydrocarbons in the atmosphere is just plain
stupid. Many prescription drugs don’t require a doctors
permission to purchase; let the pharmacist who knows these drugs
better than most doctors make some recommendations. Excessive
regulation enslaves the masses in a needless ritual of frustration.
Welfare reform
This safety net is too often used as a hammock. Most of the
welfare roles are occupied by unwed teenage mothers. We should
place the burden of supporting minors and their offspring squarely
on the shoulders of both sets of adult parents. People on welfare
should be given an opportunity to improve their education, provide
childcare, or other services to counter balance the aid given
to them. Private organizations and churches may be better equipped
to handle these problems.
Immigration reform
One of the main functions of a country is to protect its borders.
The United States has failed miserably in this regard. The current
influx of illegal aliens is causing great harm to the long term
health of the country. Many pregnant Mexican mothers cross the
borders in order to have their child delivered in the U.S. so
that it can become a native U.S. citizen. Since a U.S. citizen
cannot be deported, much effort is usually made to allow the mother
legitimacy so that the child can be raised in the country of birth.
We must not reward illegal immigrants by allowing mothers to enter
the U.S. illegally to raise there children here, or to give amnesty
to illegal's that have merely been able to evade capture for several
years. While we do not go so far as to say that illegal's should
be shot, the should be rounded up and returned to there country
of origin until such time that they can gain access legally. Further,
for those caught in the country illegally, legal immigration should
be made more difficult if not impossible for them to obtain.
